
Looking across Clear Lake at Mt. Konocti
Clear Lake is the largest fresh water lake located entirely within the state of California. It is in the Mendocino National Forest in Lake county California. It’s average depth is 27 ft with and is about 60 feet deep at the deepest point. Many streams and springs flow into Clear Lake but it’s only outflow is into Cache Creek. A dam placed on Cache Creek helps to regulate flow. The surface elevation of the lake is 1329 ft.
Clear Lake Recreation
Clear Lake is a popular spot for watersports enthusiasts. Fishing, swimming, sailing, wind surfing, waterskiing, boating, and riding personal water craft are all popular activities, primarily in the summer. There are 11 free boat launch ramps around the lake that are open to the public. Individuals may rent boats and personal water craft from many businesses around the lake.
