Fast Money carries Water for GE
Thursday October 2, 2008
Fast Monday opened the show on October 1st, 2008 with a split screen of the US Senate and the Fast Money studio. Pete Najarian led the cheer leading in favor of the corporate welfare being discussed in the Senate. This newest attempt to loot the US taxpayer is being called the "bailout" or possibly "the rescue", depending on how is leading the cheer.
Najarian tows the GE party line with with unwavering loyalty. GE being the parent company to CNBC and the Fast Money program. GE is also a major defense contractor and prime recipient of the Bush/Cheney war funds, all funded , of course, by the US Tax payer. I could suffer through the usual Najarian rant, while waiting to hear some wisdom from Jeff Macke, the guy who gets it, had it not been for the fact that on the split screen, Barack Obama was addressing the Senate. Fast Money had the audacity to let the Najarian rant run it's course beside the split screen with Obama speaking. My reaction was to hit the stop button on my recording and delete the rest of the program.
Fast Money will fall all over itself to feature a House Republican in an interview following the failure of the first bailout to pass. I applauded those Congressmen and women who voted against that package. Fast Money played a McCain press release like it was breaking news after McCain talked up the first plan and it went down in flames.
I have enjoyed some guests on Fast Money and certainly enjoy the wisdom imparted by Jeff Macke on the program. However, I will no longer devote 42-45 minutes of my day to watching. 42-45 minutes is the average length of the program when the commercials get played in fast forward.
I do not have a position in GE , or Fast Money set up on my DVR.
