Firefox 2 problems

Friday October 27, 2006

The verbal war of words is raging on the Internet as to which newly released browser is the best one. I have been a Firefox user for several years and only use IE to see how it will interpret (read as break) my web page designs. My computing platform is Fedora Core 5 x86_64. I have downloaded Firefox 2 but have yet to get it to install properly, or so it would seem. I can get the archive file unzipped and extracted from the tarball. It will build a fresh install and I can start the browser. When I check the about screen I find the same version listed as the one I am now running, which is 1.5.0.7. This version is working great but I can't seem to find anything that would indicate a version 2 on my machine. I have work that I need to get done so I really do not have the time to spend days pouring through various forums until I find the answer to what is going on. So until Yum will download and install, I am staying with the previous version. The one that is working.
