IEEE Computer Society Magazines Go Digital
Wednesday March 14, 2007
LOS ALAMITOS, CA - March 8, 2007 (INB) -- The IEEE Computer Society has launched digital editions for two of its cutting- edge technology magazines.
Readers can purchase annual, six-month, and single-issue digital subscriptions to the monthly Computer, which publishes peer- reviewed technical content covering all aspects of computer science. Annual or single-issue digital subscriptions will be offered for the bimonthly IEEE Security & Privacy, which addresses a broad range of topics related to securing information and computing resources.
The quick-downloading PDFs, produced by Qmags, are mirror images of the print magazines, and can be read and stored online or printed out for future reference. The digital version of Computer will cost $29.95 for 12 issues, $14.95 for six issues, and $5 for a single copy. S&P's digital edition will cost $19.95 for six issues and $5 for a single issue. "Our magazines are relevant to a broad audience of computing practitioners and software developers," said Associate Publisher Dick Price. "This new delivery mechanism will enable readers anywhere in the world to receive these magazines quickly, conveniently, and affordably."
The digital magazines will give subscribers timely access to the latest technology research, let global computing practitioners avoid international mailing delays, and provide quality content to high school computer science students and other groups that aren't current Computer Society members.
"We hope that our digital edition project draws new types of readers, especially internationally, and expands the potential audience for our authors, most of whom are renowned in their fields," said Carl Chang, the Computer Society's 2004 President and Computer's Editor-in-Chief.
"Watching Security & Privacy magazine grow and evolve over the last four years into the leading publication that it is has been a pleasure," said Gary McGraw, CTO of software security firm Cigital and producer of IEEE Security & Privacy Magazine's Silver Bullet Security Podcast with Gary McGraw. "The new digital edition will give us even greater reach, bringing our important and timely security content to interested readers with the click of a mouse."
With nearly 100,000 members, the 61-year-old IEEE Computer Society is the world's leading organization of computer professionals. Through its 14 magazines, 14 scholarly journals, and more than 150 conferences, the Computer Society is dedicated to advancing the theory and practice of computer and information processing technology.
