For 1500 years the printed word has been the accepted medium of communication for society. Now in print industry is dying. Newspapers struggle to obtain readers. The economies of distribution are rapidly being replaced by the digital transmission of data over fiber optics and wireless networks. The raw materials and energy required to produce print harm the environment.
