Recession Hits Coffee Shop
Wednesday March 19, 2008
I like Starbuck's coffee and pastry items despite the fact that neither are good for me from a health stand point. I don't need the fat and carbs in the pastries and I can no longer tolerate the caffeine in their coffee drinks.
According to various articles in the financial press, I am not the only customer that no longer goes to Starbuck's. I guess the recession is taking it's toll on their business. See this Bloomberg.com article on Starbucks.
The one suggestion I could make is that they offer free wifi in their coffee shops. If a person wants to use wifi, it costs $24.95 a month for a monthly account with the current provider. They charge a premium price for their products. Times are not what they were a couple of years ago. People have to cut out the non-essentials and it appears that $4 dollar coffees and $2 cookies are not essentials after all
