Shifting Content Focus

flatbed with a load of onions on I-8

During a year in the history of Jwrblog, back in the version before any numbers at the end, I published from the cab of a tractor trailer rig. I worked in the transportation industry as a commodity relocation expert (tongue in cheek term for a truck driver). I never found the time to do much photography work while driving the truck. The schedule is not all that flexible when it comes to leisure time. I saw a lot of country, much of it for the first and only time. There are almost as many stories from the road as there are mile markers found along the Interstate.

The point is that in publishing a blog content is king. Readers are attracted to good content that provides a service, entertainment or some other form of value. Finding a niche and defining a razor sharp focus is no easy feat. I am still in the transportation industry, working in safety and compliance with a major temperature controlled carrier. I do not discuss the company on this publication, preferring to avoid the pitfall and risk associated with messing up the day job. Most notably the loss of cash flow. If they pay regularly, and my company does, it is best to not put that at jeopardy.

My work involves interacting with drivers on a daily basis. Some of what happens is very funny, but respect for the privacy of others prevents me from sharing much of what my office encounters. I provide this as a background into the direction I plan to take the blog. While still covering some technical issues and writing about health and fitness, I plan to blend in some information about the trucking industry, travel and as much humor as possible without making light of anyone and causing harm. So buckle up boys and girls as we head down this road together. I hope you will enjoy the ride and check back often as I look at the highway from a perspective that may be different to many readers.
