Century Plant, Maguey

The maguey or century plant is a native of Mexico but is found around the world. Known as the American Aloe this plant is not related to the true aloe genus of plants.

The agave Americana or century plant can reach heights of 25ft. and has a lifespan of about 25 years. After flowering the plant dies.

This century plant was photographed in the hills overlooking Clearlake Ca. during the summer of 2004.
